I am an Associate Professor
in the Department of Finance and Economics at the Lubin
School of Business at Pace University. I hold a Ph.D. in Finance (2001), an
M.B.A. in Finance (1997), and a B.A. in Psychology (1994), all from York
University in Toronto.
My research
interests include financial markets, financial intermediation, and mutual
funds. I tend to focus on empirical analysis using statistical programming
languages such as SAS, and make use of financial databases including TAQ,
CRSP, COMPUSTAT, Loan Pricing Corporation primary and secondary market data,
and Morningstar mutual fund data.
I have published
articles in academic journals including the Journal of Banking and
Finance, Journal
of Empirical Finance, Journal of Financial Markets, and the Journal of Financial
Services Research,
among others, and I have coauthored several books. My research has been cited
and reviewed in newspapers and popular magazines, including The Wall
Street Journal, The
New York Times, Forbes
Magazine, and Business
Week, and I have
presented academic papers at a number of academic meetings and conferences.
I teach
graduate and undergraduate courses on managerial finance, investment analysis
and capital markets, present corporate seminars on finance topics, and
consult to both firms and governments. I have received a number of awards,
research grants, and scholarships, including both a research grant and
doctoral fellowship from the Canadian Social Sciences and Humanities Research
Council.
