For Students

Through this world of toil and snares,
If I falter, Lord, who cares?
Who with me my burden shares?
None but Thee, dear Lord, none but Thee.

Read my ode to Post-Katrina New Orleans

Just a Closer Walk with Thee which appeared in Crosscurrents Journal and in USA Today Magazine in early 2006..

Check out my friend photographer Rebecca Zilenziger's work on post-Katrina New Orleans (and a version of Professor Longhair's Mardi Gras in New Orleans by some anonymous guitarist...)

In August 2005, Hurricane Katrina devastated the Gulf Coast and chased my family, friends and the noble people of New Orleans from their homes.  Today, New Orleans is still a devastated city.

In the years since Katrina, dozens upon dozens of my Pace students have come down to New Orleans to assist with the rebuilding. It is said that outside of love, the most precious thing you can give another person is your labor. The time spent in New Orleans withmy students has truly been a labor of love. It gives me hope that New Orleans will one day return to the city is was.
