Since the appearance of the Harvard edition in 1987, Incidents in the Life of a Slave Girl has achieved the status of a classic. Almost two dozen editions are in print in English, and Jacobs has received international recognition. Her text has been translated and published in German, Portugese, French, and Japanese.
