Work in Progress
- Getting A Life: Early Fandoms In Late 19th and 20th Century Europe and America (a study of audiences and fan communities that developed around popular cultural phenomena such as Sherlock Holmes, Karl May's Westerns, and The Wizard of Oz, that examines how fans engaged with, appropriated, and reinterpreted serial fiction created by popular authors. My approach compares fans and spectatorship across cultures, paying particular attention to the dynamics of class and gender)
