Program Description: Most firms now require candidates to bring a research report with them on interviews. How do you produce a concise, professional report that will impress prospective employers? More importantly, what skills will you need in order to succeed as a professional analyst? In this session, experienced analysts will discuss the critical components of an equity research report—from the buy-side and sell-side perspectives. Examples will be taken from existing reports, and the template for the Investment Research Challenge will be discussed. The interactive format will focus on student questions, and is ideal both for those students interested in the NYSSA Challenge as well as those preparing reports for recruiting purposes.

October 27: So you want to be an Equity AnalysT?

James Morris, Equity Research Analyst, will speak about how to do research a company. Mr. Morris has been the advisor to the Pace team in two of the three previous NYSSA IRC competitions, and will share his experience on the best way to succeed in both the PERC and the NYSSA IRC competitions.

John J. Apruzzese, CFA, is managing director of the U.S. Trust Corporation and director of equity management. He is a member of the National Investment Policy Committee, as well as the Senior Investment Forum.

Jack L. Rivkin, is executive vice president and chief investment officer of Neuberger Berman, a Lehman Brothers Company. He is also a member of Neuberger’s Executive Management Committee.
