Tamil is the native language of the state of Tamil Nadu in India. It is also spoken in Sri Lanka, Malaysia, and Singapore by sizeable and long-established communities. Of course, the Tamil diaspora is spread out all over the world, with important communities existing in the United States, Canada and Australia.
