Budget Allocation Council (BAC)

Do you ever wonder what happens with the student activities fee charged to every full-time undergraduate student? Do you know who makes the decision on how the funds are distributed? Would you like to be a part of the council that makes the decisions on the Student’s Activities Fee? Would you like real experience working with a large budget? If you are interested in becoming involved with the budget allocation process, please contact the Executive Treasurer/Budget Allocation Council Chairperson.

Comprised of the executive treasurer, four student government appointees, and four elected student organization representatives.  It allocates all student fee funding in a fair and just manner.  Every undergraduate student at Pace University pays a student activities fee of $75 as part of their tuition.  This money is pooled together in one large account. SGA is charged with managing $850,000 each year, and the responsibility is taken very seriously. The Budge Allocation Council (BAC), receives budget proposals from student organizations, and agrees upon the amount that each organization should receive each semester.

Submitting Budget Proposals

When submitting budget proposals to BAC, the main cover sheet must be on the front of all 9 copies of your organization's budget proposal. Also, if your organization is heading a co-sponsorship or attending a conference in the Fall, please use the appropriate cover sheets within your budget proposal, and attach it in front of the proper proposals for both of those events.

9 copies of your organization's budget proposal are due in the Spring and Fall semesters (deadline announced),
to SDACA, on the 8th floor of 41 Park Row. Late submissions will be penalized.

Budget reports for all organizations that submitted their proposals (on time) for the upcoming semester are for pick-up at SDACA at the end of the previous semester. Date for pick-up will be announced. Each report has your BAC advisors contact info; please contact them via email if you have any questions regarding your organization's allocation.

Any budget proposal submitted without the front cover sheet will be returned. Please make sure to submit the main cover sheet with all of the required information filled in along with your budget proposals, and remember to use the other two cover sheets (Co-sponsorship and Conference) if your organization is co-sponsoring any events or submitting for a conference.

BAC Workshops

Workshops will be held for one full week (during the common hours and that Thursday from 3:30 - 4:30 pm, since there is no common hour on that day) in the Spring semester and when the BAC chairperson deems necessary. Workshops are held in the in the Leadership Lounge, located on the 8th Floor of 41 Park Row at SDACA.

If your organization intends to submit a budget proposal to the Budget Allocation Council to apply for SAF funding, it is MANDATORY that you send an Executive board representative, preferably the Executive Treasurer, to one of the 5 workshops being held next week; there will be penalties applied to your organization's budget if your organization submits a budget proposal but does not attend a workshop. All necessary details will be discussed at the workshops.

Budget Appeal Meetings

During the beginning of each semester, BAC holds Budget Appeals meetings. If your organization would like to appeal a decision made by BAC, please e-mail the chairperson to schedule a time for an e-board representative from your organization to come in and meet with BAC.

PLEASE NOTE: Pending funding does not require that you come in to appeal on behalf of your org; rather, send your BAC advisor the information that was requested on pending items from your orgs budget via email, and BAC will resolve those issues accordingly.
