TeachLivE in the School of Education at Pace University
The TeachLivE™ Lab is an innovative, cutting edge technology that simulates the experience of classroom teaching through real-time interaction with a class of five digital avatars. This mixed reality teaching environment, where the classroom is real but the students are virtual, provides opportunities for scaffolded practice in a variety of content areas. Participants can present or review lessons, differentiate instructional strategies and assess their own ability to engage students in learning activities.
Partnering with the University of Central Florida, creator of the TeachLivE environment, Pace is one of only ten universities in the United States to use this technology for teacher preparation, professional development of in-service educators and research on teacher effectiveness. Pace School of Education has an avatar lab on both its New York City and Pleasantville campuses.
